The Challenge
The property was a Grade II listed Victorian terrace with fragile decorative stonework, original slate roof, and ornate cast iron gutters that could not bear any load. The narrow alleyway between properties meant the scaffold had to be erected from the front only. The homeowner was living in the property throughout, requiring quiet working hours and minimal disruption.
Our Solution
We designed a cantilevered scaffold using lightweight aluminium Kwikstage components with rubber-protected contact points to prevent damage to the Victorian brickwork. Independent supported scaffolding with no tie points through the facade protected the listed features. All work was scheduled between 8am and 4pm, and materials were delivered in small batches to avoid blocking the narrow street.
The Result
The scaffold preserved every original feature — no chips, cracks, or marks on the 150-year-old stonework. The restoration contractor was able to work safely at every level of the facade. The homeowner praised our team's respect for their property and neighbourhood. The scaffold was dismantled within 48 hours of the final inspection.
